EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon:About
What is the EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon ?
The EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon is an electronic repository of ATM-related terms and their validated definitions.
It adopts the concept of Media-wiki products - anyone can comment, propose modification to an existing entry, suggest a new term with its definition.
However, there is an important difference that distinguishes the EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon from other wikies. A robust content management and control process ensures the needed quality, reliability and consistency of stored data.
Content Quality Assurance
The basic content management principle is that the entry content is developed using information derived from qualified sources (e.g. ICAO, European Commission, EUROCONTROL documents and publications). However, a number of knowledge items promulgate best practices applied across various regions and organisations. That's why this Lexicon includes the result of the work of the Aeronautical Information Harmonization Working Group, the Aeronautical Information Feature Data Dictionary (AIFDD).
The integrity, consistency and correctness of the content are ensured through the formal compliance with the established:
• Authorship, review and approval process and procedures
• Dedicated user rights management procedures and system support
• Procedure for review by a selection of experts.
Entry Creation and Upload
Anyone can propose to create a new entry or draft it himself/herself. Proposals for new entries, modifications to existing ones or new draft entries should be submitted to the Administrator of the EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon via the Contribute feature or the Speical pages:Contact us / Propose a new term feature, accessible from the left navigation bar. Proven authors who are familiar with the Media-wiki platform will – at a later stage – be able to submit their draft entries directly into the EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon. The Administrator only is entitled to integrate a draft entry into the relevant EUROCONTROL ATM Lexicon knowledge category following completion of the editorial and validation process.
