Distance Measuring Equipment | DME Distance is defined as the line of sight distance (slant range) from the source of a DME signal to the receiving antenna. DME operates on the interrogation-answer principle where the time required for the round trip of the signal exchange is measured in the airborne DME unit and translated into DME Distance. |
