A component of a Microwave Landing System (MLS) consisting of a Super High Frequency (SHF) transmitter radiating signals to provide lateral indications to aircraft approaching the runway.

The lateral information is the locus of points in any horizontal plane where the decoded guidance angle is constant. SHF is the frequency band between 3 and 30 gigahertz (GHz).
