2.Information on planned future aircraft behaviour, which can be obtained from the aircraft systems (avionics). It is associated with the commanded trajectory and will enhance airborne functions. The aircraft intent data correspond either to aircraft trajectory data that directly relate to the future aircraft trajectory as programmed inside the avionics, or the aircraft control parameters as managed by the automatic flight control system. These aircraft control parameters could either be entered by the flight crew or automatically derived by the Flight Management System.

'Operational improvements' are not necessarily related exclusively to the effect of a change in technology, they can relate to procedures, working methods or routines and human factor aspects. An 'operational improvement' is always associated to an operational benefit. An 'operational improvement' is associated to one or more 'strategic objectives' and is part of one or more 'directions of change.' An 'operational improvement' could also mean the 'improvement of an existing capability' and/or the introduction of a new capability. (notes source: ICAO ATMCP-WG/WHL/2-WP/32, p.3)

Definition Source
SESAR Project ID 16.06.06 D26-01 (October, 2014) - ATM CBA for Beginners
Note
An example: If a person receives EUR 100 today and invests it immediately, it will start to generate income immediately. If that person waits ten years before investing the EUR 100, he/she will lose ten years of income.
Thus, when talking about costs and benefits, two dimensions should always be specified: the amount of money as well as the point in time when a given money inflow or outflow occurs.
