Definition
An application that allows airlines to prioritise flights by exchanging the slot of one flight with the slot of another.
Initially limited to flights within the same airline, it now gives airspace users the opportunity to exchange the departure order of any two flights from different airlines penetrating the same constraint (airspace volume, arrival airport). This allows AUs, within commercial agreements, to reduce the delay of a commercially sensitive flight at the cost of another flight.

Note
The possibility to extend it further to swapping between flights not sharing the same Most Penalising Regulation is under study. (source: SESAR, Project: 7.6.4)

Any event within the operational envelope of the airport, which has a significant negative impact on operational performance unless appropriate actions are organised.
Definition Source
SESAR Operational Service and Environment Definition (OSED) P.6.6.1, Ed.00.00.03, 20.01.2012
Note
This definition encompasses adverse weather conditions.
In most cases, the airport capacity will be affected. However, other Key Performance Areas may also be impacted (e.g. the predictability of operations may decrease). The consequence of adverse conditions at an airport may be arrival and departure delays and / or flight cancellations. In many cases, the ATM Network will also suffer from the disruption. Definition
Degraded weather condition: a condition which might have a significant negative impact on airport performance unless a proper response is organized (i.e. the selection of an airport operating mode to respond to given degraded conditions and eventually the use of additional airport resources such as de-icing/anti-icing services). This would be the case when visibility is poor and/or in case of freezing conditions, precipitations, etc.

Note
For convenience, the term “air traffic control clearance” is frequently abbreviated to “clearance” when used in appropriate contexts. The abbreviated term “clearance” may be prefixed by the words “taxi”, “take-off”, “departure”, “en-route”, “approach” or “landing” to indicate the particular portion of flight to which the air traffic control clearance relates.

CDO
Definition
An operation, enabled by airspace design, procedure design and ATC facilitation, in which an arriving aircraft descends continuously, to the greatest possible extent, by employing minimum engine thrust, ideally in a low drag configuration, prior to the final approach fix /final approach point.
Definition Source
1. ICAO (2010) Doc 9931, Continuous Descent Operations (CDO) Manual
2. SESAR Concept of Operations Step 2 Edition 2014 (Ed. 01.01.00)
Note
1.— An optimum CDO starts from the top of descent and uses descent profiles that reduce , segments of level flight, noise, fuel burn, emissions and controller/pilot communications, while increasing predictability to pilots and controllers and flight stability.
2.— A CDO initiated from the highest possible level in the enroute or arrival phases of flight will achieve the maximum reduction in fuel burn, noise, and emissions.

The essence of the MergeStrip concept is that, in an extended environment, a dynamic system can be used to create relative spacing instead of a static map element with fixed lateral flight path.
...
MergeStrip components:
•Common route, for example final
•Merge points
•Relative Spacing Tool (here: plots on an imaginary centre line)
•High level concept of operation
•delaying manoeuvre if necessary (speed control or vectoring)
•using FMS capabilities, optimised flying towards one of the merge points
•speed control for maintaining relative spacing
