the expansion of the ICAO Field 15 into a set of route points (i.e. Standard routes are expanded into the list of points defining the route that have to be overflown).

These points determine completely the 2D path to be followed by the aircraft. It defines the path from the departure aerodrome to the destination aerodrome, including the result of the expansion of the arrival and departure procedures.

Note

Each point of the expanded route comes from only one route element but (for the case of the RouteSegments), a route element can be expanded into several points of the Expanded Route.
