1. The maximum number of aircraft that can be accommodated in a given time period by the system or one of its components (throughput).
2. The ability of the Air Traffic Control System or any of its sub-systems or an operating position to provide service to aircraft during normal activities. It is expressed in numbers of aircraft entering a specified portion of the airspace in a given period of time.
