EAD is a centralized reference database of aeronautical information for airspace users and an integrated AIS solution for service providers, provided by the EUROCONTROL Member States.

Starting with Release 9 (November 2014), EAD can provide data in AIXM 5.1 format. This data is the result of automatic conversion of the EAD/SDO AIXM 4.5 data and therefore it is limited to the current AIXM 4.5 scope and data encoding possibilities. A minimum data set (points, navaids, routes, airports, runways, airspace, etc.) is available for world-wide. For the area of fully migrated States, a larger data set is available.

The EAD Web site provides more details about the data scope and the status of the information maintained by the EAD data providers:

  • ECAC Area - Data Maintenance directly by the States concerned
  • World-wide data - Some non-European States maintain directly their data in the EAD. For the rest of the world, the data is digitised by the EAD service provider using the AIS sources (AIP or digital data, where available).

The AIXM 5.1 data is directly available to all EAD Data Users who have signed the EAD User Agreement.

Sample AIXM 5.1 exports can be made available on request for evaluation purpose. The provision of such sample data requires the signature of a Test AIXM 5.1 Data User Agreement (free of charge). Please contact EAD ([email protected]) for further details.
