Temporary change encoding

Introduction

The temporality model defines temporary changes within the AIXM 5.1 information exchange model. A temporary change describes the transitory overlay of a feature state during a temporary event. A temporal change is defined as a Temporary Delta Time Slice (TEMPDELTA). Within the temporality rules, the only feature attribute that is situated outside the time slice and cannot have a start/end of validity is the "gml:identifier". This feature attribute is also used as an identification of the feature for which the time slice is valid.

Feature information in a Temporary Delta Time Slice needs to be distinguished from information in a Baseline Time Slice. An additional attribute is used for this purpose: AIXMFeatureTimeSlice class. This attribute is named “interpretation” and indicates the type of time slice: BASELINE or TEMPDELTA. A temporary change includes just the values of the properties that are temporarily changed with reference to the Basline these changes apply to.

It is important to point out that not all temporal changes encoded as TEMPDELTA time slice are D-NOTAMs, although teh D_NOTAM concept is based on TEMPDELTA time slices.

Use Case example

The following example provides an overview of feature TaxiwayElement and its time slices.

A BASELINE 1 time slice is encoded from 1.9.2020 00:00:00 UTC to an unknown date/time.The Availibility propoperty captures the opertational status set to "NORMAL".
A TEMPDELTA time slice is encoded to capture a temporary change of the TaxiwayElement attribute 'Availability' and sets the operational status from "NORMAL" to "CLOSED" with a start of validity at 10.09.2020 00:00:00 UTC and an end of validity at14.10.2020 23:59:00 UTC. Within the time of validity of the TEMPDELTA time slice, the Availability property value of the TEMPDELTA will replace the value of the BASELINE as displayed on the picture below.
